Nathan Cleverly lifted the WBA light heavyweight title to become a two-time world champion after Juergen Braehmer pulled out with an injury midway through their fight.A close fight was set for an exciting second half and there were no signs that Braehmer had suffered the injury before the surprising finish at the Jahnsportforum in Neubrandenburg, Germany.Braehmer (48-3, 35 KOs), a two-time world champion, did not look in too much distress when he walked over to Cleverlys corner before the start of the seventh round to tell him he was retiring injured. A rematch now seems likely.?Im just very grateful to be world champion again, I loved being world champion before and I lost my belt and I needed that belt back in my life, said Cleverly.Im very grateful for Juergen Braehmer giving me shot at title, and if he wants a rematch we have a rematch clause. I broke him up the first six rounds and it was inevitable what was going to happen, but if he wants a rematch I will do it.Cleverly (30-3, 16 KOs), 29, had not fought for almost a year since a 12-round brutal brawl with Andrzej Fonfara. That unanimous points defeat to Fonfara was Cleverlys third loss in three years and he climbed through the ropes much in need of a career boost. The Welshman lost his WBO version of the world title when Sergey Kovalev stopped him in 2013 and a year later he stepped up to cruiserweight to lose a split points decision to British rival Tony Bellew. But Cleverly showed his career is very much still alive with a sharp start in what was an absorbing fight that was intriguingly poised until its sudden finish.Braehmer, 38 next week, will want a rematch after ruling as WBA champion since December 2013 with six defences, all at home in Germany.Braehmer, who defeated Cleverlys fellow Welshman Enzo Maccarinelli in 2013, had been due to face Cleverly in 2011 but pulled out with an injury that saw him stripped of the WBO belt that the Welshman would go on to hold for two years.Cleverly began hoping to make Braehmer look his age by setting a high tempo pace, but the champion was the more accurate with his punches.Southpaw Braehmer began getting through with backhands and was not unsettled by the pressure Cleverly was putting on him in the first four rounds. Many of Cleverlys punches were blocked but Braehmer was better at finding the target on the counter.Cleverly had a good fifth round as he maintained a relentless workrate and the fight was close before an unexpected end.Braehmer did not appear injured during the sixth round but before the start of the seventh round he walked over to Cleverlys corner to congratulate him.Braehmer held an ice pack to his right pack as the decision was announced that revives Cleverlys career.Im still maturing and maybe it was too early before, said Cleverly. This is the second phase of my career and it feels the right time. It was a matter of letting him tire himself out and break him up. I took the steam out of him and he folded a bit earlier than I expected. Ryan Pulock Islanders Jersey . Dukurs winning time was 1 minute, 45.76 seconds, a quarter-second better than Russias Alexander Tretiakov. Lativas Tomass Dukurs was third, 1.41 seconds off the pace. Jon Montgomery of Eckville, Alta. Thomas Greiss Islanders Jersey . The 18-year-old American had five birdies in her bogey-free round for a 17-under total of 196. Lee held the overnight lead but mixed three birdies with two bogeys for a 70. http://www.islanderssale.com/authentic-pat-lafontaine-islanders-jersey/ .S. Open champion Justin Rose birdied the first hole with a blind shot he hit to a foot of the pin, and he stayed in front Tuesday until he completed a 4-under 67 for a two-shot lead over Jason Dufner in PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Scott Mayfield Islanders Jersey . Los Angeles star goalie survived those perilous gymnastics with no problem, and he eventually backstopped the Kings to a skid-snapping win. Quick stopped 27 shots in his return from a 24-game injury absence, Jeff Carter scored the tiebreaking goal with 7:55 to play, and the Kings snapped their five-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. John Tavares Jersey . LOUIS -- Valtteri Filppula assisted on three of Tampa Bays four goals, and the Lightning beat the St.The Premier League of Darts is north of the border on night four, so Rod Studd has selected his five favourite Scottish throwers. Defending champion Gary Anderson heads back to his homeland for the Premier League on Thursday night, live on Sky Sports.Studd has witnessed a string of successful Scotsman through the years and he picks out his top five... Jocky Wilson Jocky Wilson is considered the finest Scottish player of all Jocky, you have to say, is the greatest Scottish arrow-smith of them all and part of the first golden era of darts. He was a member of the holy trinity of darts, along with Eric Bristow and John Lowe. The three of them went at it hammer and tongs between them.Twice the world champion, Jocky firstly beat Lowe in 1982 and then he defeated Bristow in a tremendous final in 1989. Jocky raced off into a 5-0 lead and Brissy came back, and then Jocky just about scrambled over the line. It was a classic final and probably the last hurrah for Wilson. A smile comes across the lips of anyone that knew him, once they mention the name Jocky. Rod Studd He will always be fondly remembered for that period in the 80s. Eric quite aptly described Jocky as a one-off and that is exactly what he was. A smile comes across the lips of anyone that knew him, once they mention the name Jocky. Some of the antics and great stories they could tell about him. Everyone remembers him so very fondly, that idiosyncratic throwing action, and he is of course sadly no longer with us.Gary Anderson Gary Anderson collected his second world title in January A two-time Scottish world champion, Gary indeed may become the first Scotsman to win the tournament on three occasions to surpass the great Jocky Wilson. He of course has taken the title in 2015 and 2016 and we have witnessed the blossoming of Anderson in the last 12-18 months. In the BDO, he never got beyond the Lakeside semi-finals, and fell short in the 2011 PDC final before finally ending his wait for a first World title in 2015. But now he is fulfilling that potential and has become one of the main players in the PDC world of darts. Anderson produces the first perfect nine dart leg of the World Championship against Jelle Klaasen in the semi-finals Twice a Premier League winner as well and undoubtedly taking his place in the list of great Scottish dartists, but now among the greatest players to have ever played the game. Hes gone from being Dream Boy back in the early 2000s to The Flying Scotsman and he really has been flying.Les WallaceMcDanger Wallace is famously the first ever left-handed player to win the World Championship, beating Marshall James in 1997. Only Mark Webster has followed since then as a left-handed champion, and he remains the only darts player to this day to win the tournament while wearing a kilt. Les Wallace was the first left-hander to win a world title To be honest, people look back at Les as a bit of a cartoon character. I think thhey forget that he beat Raymond van Barneveld and Mervyn King on the way to the final, the two aces in the BDO pack at that time.dddddddddddd He won the 1998 World Masters too, beating Alan Warriner-Little, which was another big scalp. But after that, he didnt really have a lot of luck really. He only won two more matches at the Lakeside and disappeared off the darting scene.Les just edged out Ronnie Sharp and that maginficent moustache, which earned him the Pancho nickname.Jamie HarveyBravedart Harvey was one of the founder members of the PDC when the split came in 1993-94 and really for many years was one of the most colourful, engaging characters. You would get The Bonnie Banks O Loch Lomond as he came on - and the fans loved it. Harvey was a fans favourite during his entertaining spell in the sport Jamie was just an entertaining player. His level of success never reached the heights of some of the players weve got on the list. In fact, the best he ever did was reach the semi-finals of the World Matchplay and the World Championship in 1996. But if you ask someone to name a player from the mid 90s then Jamie Harvey will come up quite a lot.My favourite memory was a particular darts promo featuring Jamie. It was at the same time as the Mel Gibson film Braveheart in 1995. They recreated the scene when Gibson sprinted towards the camera, screaming like a madman, with a Saltire painted onto his face. Jamie had his face painted exactly the same, but then the camera panned out to reveal Jamie running through a forest, armed only with a single dart. I still chuckle about that from time to time.Peter WrightI toyed with the idea of Robert Thornton, who of course defeated Michael van Gerwen in last years World Grand Prix in Dublin. But Im going to pick Wrighty as the final Scottish player and partly to emphasise that he is Scottish. He was born just outside Livingston to Scottish parents and this accusation of being a plastic Scot is grossly unfair, just because he moved south of the border when he was very young. Peter Wright has become a serious contender despite his light-hearted image Lets not forget he partnered Gary Anderson to the final of the World Cup of Darts last summer when they were only beaten by Adrian Lewis and Phil Taylor, representing England. I know he was very proud to represent Scotland and was hoping to put one over the Auld Enemy.Peter Wright has not just become one of the great characters, but one of the great stars of the game in terms of his playing ability. He reinvented himself from 2010 onwards. That wild hair, which his wife Jo cultivated for him, then the flamboyant shirts and trousers to produce this character Snakebite. The way he milks the crowd, its great theatre. Wright brought the house down in Dublin after checking out on 161 in his match against James Wade Away from the oche, hes quite shy, and is quite literally all trousers and no mouth. But hes actually become a very serious darts player which people shouldnt forget as well. Watch night four of the Premier League this Thursday, from 7pm on Sky Sports 1.
